More photos from the set of “The Dark Tower”show Roland and Richard Sayre played by Jackie Earle Haley. For those that don’t remember, Sayre is a Low-Man or Can-toi, and is a servant to the Crimson King. He and Roland don’t cross paths in the book, where he is killed by Susannah after giving birth to Mordred, but since this is set AFTER the book series, anything is possible. He’s seen ripping a door off a car, and involved in a shootout with Roland.
Jackie Earle Haley has black dots on his face where it will be changed in post-production. The low-men actually have rat-like heads with a human mask over the top. From a distance they can pass as human, but up close you’ll notice an open wound in the forehead that the mask – itself a living organism, uses to breathe. I cannot wait to see this film. More photos from the set of The Dark Tower have surfaced, and as well giving us a new look at Roland and Jake, they confirm MAJOR SPOILERS revealing that this is far from a direct adaptation…
As shooting continues on Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, it seems to be more and more likely that this film is set AFTER the books take place. Spoilers about the books and how it affects the film are ahead, so tread carefully.
The first photos of Matthew McConaughey on The Set Of The Dark Tower have surfaced. The actor is playing The Man in Black, also known as Randall Flagg, Walter o’Dim, and the Ageless Stranger. Idris Elba plays the Gunslinger Roland Deschain, and they will be joined by Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz, Kathryn Winnick, and Abby Lee. The film is not a direct adaptation of the book and these shots were taken in New York City which plays a big role in the latter books in the series.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is currently set to be released on February 17th, next year. Do you think McConaughey looks the part of Walter? Do you think he can bring the charm and menace to the role? Sound of Dark Tower fans!
Filming on The Dark Tower has been underway for a few weeks, and I am struggling between extreme excitement that one of my favorite stories will be on the big screen, and dread that director Nikolaj Arcel’s film will deviate too much from the source material. It’s a fantasy/horror/Science Fiction series that is rich and vibrant and almost impossible to put a faithful version on screen. But what if this isn’t an adaption at all?
Move ahead carefully faithful reader, there be potential spoilers ahead.
Filming on Stephen King’s epic series “The Dark Tower” has begun in South Africa, and we have our first look at Idris Elba’s take on the Gunslinger Rolan Deschain.
Billed as a science-fiction fantasy horror, the movie – directed by Nikolaj Arcel and set for release in 2017 – tells the story of Deschain, a frontiersman knight who goes head-to-head with the villainous Man in Black, played by Matthew McConaughey.
The movie will be based on the first in legendary writer King’s eight-book series, entitled The Gunslinger: there will also reportedly be a TV spin-off series based on the saga.
