We’re just over a month until the aliens come back to off the human race in Independence Day: Resurgence, and a super-sized trailer has just arrived to give us our longest look at the upcoming film. It may give away too much, so you may want to avoid it to stay spoiler free.
If you still want to see it, here you go!
The plot is laid out with Jeff Goldblum discovering a distress call the Alien mothership sent out before it was destroyed 20 years ago, and it has also been picked up by the alien species. The aliens have spent that time learning from their mistakes, and preparing this new invasion, but so has humanity.
We get our first look at Charlotte Gainsbourg, and learn about the relationship that Liam Hemsworth’s pilot has with Makia Monroe, the daughter of President Whitmore. She follows in her father’s footsteps and has the same fighter pilot skills he displayed in the first film. The rest of the film includes Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and Sela Ward. Roland Emmerich is back in the director’s chair, and there’s always a chance he will be back for a third film if this sequel does well. Hopefully it won’t be in 2036.
What did you think of the trailer? Did Fox Studios wait too long to release the sequel, or did time make your heart grow fonder? Let us know!
