Latest Photos From The Set Of THE DARK TOWER Confirm A Major Fan Theory And SPOILER

Dark Tower 1

More photos from the set of The Dark Tower have surfaced, and as well giving us a new look at Roland and Jake, they confirm MAJOR SPOILERS revealing that this is far from a direct adaptation…

A few months ago, Stephen King tweeted out an image that suggested that The Dark Tower movie wasn’t a straight adaptation of the books, and with new photos from the set, it is confirmed that Roland Deschain does indeed have the Horn of Eld! You can see it concealed in his gunna bag. I’m beyond excited, and if you are a fan of the books, you realize what a huge deal this is.

In the final book of the series, it is revealed that Roland has reached the Tower countless times, but he wasn’t worthy of it. His mind and body are reset to the desert to begin chasing the Man in Black again in the hopes that this time he will do it right. Roland has been caught in this loop for centuries, but this time, with the love of his Ka-Tet of Jake, Eddie, Susannah, Oy, and Father Callahan, he has redeemed himself more than ever before. We leave Roland in the desert once again starting his quest, but this time the Tower has given Roland the Horn of Eld, the artifact from the line of Arthur, that was lost at the Battle of Jericho. It is suggested that the horn will finally allow him to finish his quest if he is worthy.

The photos released today means that the movie is indeed a sequel to the books, and that this is Roland’s final loop as he quests for the Tower. That’s why Roland isn’t white with blue eyes like Clint Eastwood, he’s Idris Elba. He doesn’t meet Jake at the Way Station, he meets him in New York. There’s no sign of Eddie or Susannah, and the movie is free to build its own version of Roland’s quest. There were set photos that revealed the house on Dutch Hill that was introduced in The Waste Lands will also play a part in this movie.

To me, this film just shot to the top of my can’t wait to see list. I am a huge fan of the novels, have read them multiple times, and am re-reading the series right now. I think it’s a brilliant idea, and I can’t wait to see some official images and especially a trailer. Thoughts?

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is currently set to be released on February 17th, next year.
