‘Pacific Rim 2’ Set for 2018

Pacific-RimUniversal Pictures and Legendary announced today that John Boyega will be re-cancelling the apocalypse on February 23, 2018 in Pacific Rim 2. Boyega will be playing the son of Stacker Pentecost, Idris Elba’s character from the first film. The original film made a bit over $100 million in the U.S. and another $300 million world wide.

Guillermo del Toro won’t be directing, but he will be an Executive Producer. Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) is taking over the directing chair and Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) is writing the script based on an earlier piece by del Toro, Travis Beacham, Zak Penn, and Jon Spaihts.

John Boyega joins Pacific Rim 2

John Boyega has joined the cast as the son of Idris Elba‘s Stacker Pentecost. Brilliant casting and I can’t wait to see what Kaijus and Jaegers they create for the sequel. I have a real soft spot in my heart for the first film, and even though Guillermo Del Toro won’t be directing, he will be producing. The first film had moderate success in the US, but was a huge hit overseas, especially in the Asian markets. Casting Boyega, hot off Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a great way to bring new interest to the sequel. Are you excited to cancel the apocalypse again? Sound off below!Final_Four_Jaegers
